MY BRAIN ON THANKSGIVING BREAK

I sustained my learning momentum by being on the look out and checking the blog constantly to see if any new updates were posted and studying for the vocab final.

ON SELF RELIANCE PT 5

• your isolation must not be mechanical, but spiritual, that is, must be elevation” ;your solitude should “upgrade” or “better” you in some way.
• “if you are true, but not in the same truth with me, cleave to your companions” ;if we do not share similar truths, open up to those who YOURE meant to be with.
• “nothing can bring you peace, but yourself”

ON SELF RELIANCE PT 4

- “a foolish consistency is the hobo goblin of the little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines” ; afraid to make a change
- “ with consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do”
- to be great is to be misunderstood
- your genuine action will explain itself, and will explain your other genuine actions ; your acts get recognized
- your conformity explains nothing ; your ability to follow regulations doesn’t explain anything

SELF RELIANCE PT 3

• nothing is more important than the integrity of your own mind, absolve you to yourself
• why not be good instead of look good?
• if you don’t know bad you can’t be good
• do your work and I shall know you
• if you live to please others, it loses your time & blurs the impression of your character
• many people are worried about looking good instead of being good

ON SELF RELIANCE PART 2

- we make a decision by making a choice 

- we but half express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us represents 

- let yourself be judged so you can come back stronger and better

- you don’t know what you’re capable of if you don’t try 

FIRST IMPRESSION: ON SELF-RELIANCE

I think it’s pretty interesting how they say men and he/him but it’s actually people as a whole, men and women because women are apart of it to they just don’t really mention she/her as much. I think they’re used to talking about men all the time because of ancient time how pretty much “ men would have the most power “ and how they’re the dominant ones.
