ACADEMY OF ONE

My isolation in my life is right now is not going too bad. I feel like we can all take advantage of this time off to better ourselves and come back stronger.

Things I'm learning:
- *Big Question related* dreams supposedly don't mean anything, that your brain just pulls random thoughts/imagery from our memories..
- *My opinion* I think dreams can mean something in a way..

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH

I demonstrate strength in character during challenging times by being my own motivation and constantly reminding myself that it will all be worth it in the end

BREAKING THE LAW

I don’t think it’s ever right to break the law because the laws we have are for everyone’s protection but sometimes laws can be stupid it really depends on what law you break and if it was for a good cause or not

LEARNING IN THE AGE OF CORONAVIRUS

I think everyone is over reacting but then again we should stay aware and prepared if it does hit near.

CUE THEME MUSIC

I think the central message of The Great Gatsby realizing that you can’t change the past. It’s one of those things where you can try and try as much as you can but it won’t change anything. It’s coming to terms that you have to accept how it is and be okay with it because it can only be that way.

GATSBY ESSAY

“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne ceaselessly into the past.” 
This line can embody the conflict that defines The Great Gatsby by making it clear to the reader that we can try and try to do the impossible, but it’s obvious it can’t be undone. Fitzgerald proves his claim by creating this character that tries to change things that can’t be changed. He shows how Gatsby took all his power to mess with the impossible but ended up failing because his own Destiny will always win over him.
Fitzgerald created a character that lived in towns called West Egg and East Egg on Long Island. Gatsby, is a man destined to change his past and alter his future. A mysterious, stubborn, wealthy guy who just wanted things to go his way, but couldn’t accept it when they didn’t go his way..
Gatsby comes across this woman that he thought was the woman of his dreams which turned out to really mess him up mentally. She turned out to be the total opposite and eventually betrays him by confessing that she loves someone else. Gatsby didn’t deserve to be treated like that but they always saw him less than, they didn’t care about him. Even when he passed away, no one at least pretended to care or even attend his funeral, not even fake a tear to show sympathy for him. Gatsby was like any other decent man that wanted to be loved & cared for, so why couldn’t anyone give that to him?
The American Dream does figure prominently in this story when Gatsby sees the green light at the end of Daisy’s dock symbolizing that America is the land of endless opportunities that can be obtained with hard work, dedication, and Gatsby’s dream of repeating the past and being able to be with Daisy. Gatsby failed to achieve the American Dream if it wasn’t for his wrong doing of obtaining money. He had the money but because of his illegal actions, it caused him not to achieve the dream. If Daisy wasn’t in the picture Gatsby wouldn’t have committed those illegal acts. As Fitzgerald admitted to the reader, Gatsby did not know what he was in for when he began the pursuit of his dream to get Daisy back. The desire he had for Daisy is what set him on the journey to fail at achieving the American Dream. Gatsby lived a lie. The reason why he couldn’t get Daisy five years ago was because he had no money, but now he got cash illegally, which he failed at. Gatsby had many possessions but he didn’t deserve them because he didn’t truly earn them. He tried to get his love, get his money right and become well known in a sane way but it didn’t work out for him. Therefore, he can’t be considered someone who executed the “American Dream”.
