The story The Pedestrian is a surprisingly different story then another other ordinary story you read. It’s unique and different that’s what makes it interesting. The Pedestrian is about a man that goes out for a walk for his own benefit, just minding his business, enjoying the fresh air and not causing danger to anyone. As he walks down the streets a cop pulls him over and starts asking him a bunch of questions for no reason.
My thoughts are he probably looked suspicious but he wasn’t doing anything bad nor causing harm to anyone. But the cop was doing his job just snooping making sure he wasn’t doing anything illegal but he wasn’t doing anything, just walking. He continued asking him pointless questions, but the man remained calm because he knew he didn’t do anything wrong. He was living his life in peace and keeping to himself.
As the night continues getting darker and darker, the cop is still bugging and not getting anywhere because the man is stubborn and knows his rights. I don’t blame him because he basically didn’t do anything, just walking through the streets. He has every right to not say anything even if he was doing something because the cop didn’t see him, he has no proof whatsoever about what he “was doing”. The cop went with his instinct and found him suspicious, maybe because of how he looks or how he was walking. People can be quick to judge without even knowing you.
The fact that the man had the courage to walk for hours and hours shows how strong and mindful he is.. because most people can’t walk for hours so he was probably distracted in his own thoughts and thought so much he lost track of time. It shows he’s powerful and fearless because not anyone would just go outside and walk for hours at midnight hours. The streets could potentially be dangerous and you might run into something that you regret. The story sends out many messages that not anyone can catch because you really have to think deep and figure out yourself the point of the story. Not much action happened through out the night but the author did prove his point on how powerful the brain can be.
